About

Hi I'm Shannon, I've been interested in construction since the time I was about 7 years old.

My first experience at that age was when my parents were building a new barn on our farm. I guess the story goes that I was left alone with a hammer, a box of 2 1/2" nails and a lift of 3/8" plywood for a little too long, and before anyone had noticed I pounded about 20-30 nails into this lift of plywood sticking a number of sheets together, much to the dismay of my parents. I continued along as the years went on building misc. items on our family farm (many of them still around today because of my insistence to build things to last) go carts, boxes, furniture, feed bins, etc.

I kept this love of creating as I grew up and obtained my Interprovincial Journeyman Carpenter ticket years later. I have been creating and building since that summer I was 7 years old and have been a journeyman carpenter for 7 years now and run my own small cabinet and renovation construction business since 2005. Over the 19 years since high school I have worked and excelled in a lot of different aspects of construction working for other companies and learning a lot from other people and developing my own ideas as well.

I've worked for a motor home factory in their wood shop installation area and finishing department. For a custom cabinet shop building and installing custom residential and commercial cabinetry as well as doing service calls for them. I also worked for two different commercial construction companies as a apprentice and journeyman carpenter doing everything from concrete and steel work to baseboards and laminate. I would consider myself to be a pretty well rounded and experienced carpenter and enjoy dealing with my clients now that I have my own business.

I decided to start this web site in 2009 with the encouragement and help of my friend and with the hope I could help other people out there with an interest in construction or at least help them through a project at home. Over time I'm hoping to build this site up to be a useful tool for people to be able to use and refer to as they tackle new projects. So please look through the site and keep coming back as I hope to keep adding to it as I can.

Thanks,
Shannon
