Canoe rack

Hello I've bought myself a canoe and need to build a rack for it . The canoe will be stored upside down . I've posted above pic hopefully it works !
Of a storage idea .

The rack is going in a unfinished garage and plan on screwing the supports directly to the studs . Or would I be better to build a rectangular box and screw it to the studs like a ledger board ? Then attach gussets ?

This is a different post , any help would be great !

As long as you brace the arm or the rack well, it doesn't matter how you go about it. The absolute easiest method will be to use plywood gussets on both sides of your 2x4 bracket. You can arch the cut of the plywood to give you more room for the canoe.

For a more decorative look, the lock joints shown on the knee brace would be the way to go, just know that it's going to be difficult for the novice to achieve these types of cuts.
