Cabinet Hinge Question, Have you seen these?

I have a 20 year old custom house. I recently had a cabinet door fall off. Which is when I noticed the odd hinges... have you seen these before? Anyone know what they are called so I can search for replacements?

Decorative Basalite blocks...

I've been in my home almost a year. Upon mowing, my riding mower clipped what I thought was a rock, but on further inspection, I found it was a buried decorative basalite concrete block. So, I dug it up to not cause an issue on mowing... and I see two more, they were covered in grass on top almost a...

HEPD80 whole home surge protector

So, I had a HEPD80 whole home surge protector installed... everything I've read says this should be installed as close to the main disconnect as possible, however mine is installed at the bottom of the panel. I've read some things online that say this is okay and just delays it working by a few mili...

Electrical monitoring @ the breaker?

I live in the country. We have a well that we share with 2 other houses. Power from the well comes from my house. Is anyone aware of any type of monitor at the level of the breaker? I.e. I want to be notified if power usage skyrockets (i.e. the pump is running non-stop, and I'm dumping power). Curre...

Re: HVAC Control

Hello,

The house/furnace is about 20yrs old... propane furnace. The manual has very little other than the fan settings: auto, on, or 30 min cycle. No implicit off outside of auto.

I’ll contact the hvac co.

HVAC Control

I recently moved. Our 'new' old house had a dial thermostat and dial humidifier. I had these replaced with an Aprilaire panel. It seems the fan is on constantly (a lot). Sometimes I hear it shut down, but it seems to run more, way more, than I'd expect. There is no control to turn it off, only 'auto...

Re: Sink Stink

Ok, here's what I've done. Rather than just cap the previous dishwasher drain line, I cut out the complete drain setup. Extended the current studor vent quite a bit higher, added the dishwasher drain pipe to the sink drain pipe. For now, I'm opting to try the vinegar in the dishwasher to save additi...

Re: Sink Stink

True... Northern Colorado right now is CRAZY for building (home prices are going through the roof)... we've had ~70 homes go up in our neighborhood alone, THIS SUMMER. Builders are in a frenzy, so likely inspectors are too... I'll be working on this tomorrow and will post the results, here's my plan...

Re: Sink Stink

For the current pipe that the drain is going into, it's a 1 1/2" pipe. I'm thinking I'll cut this, cap and seal, then add a wye connection from the sink after routing the dishwasher drain pipe as described previously by Shannon. Will capping the current drain pipe cause any issues?

Thanks all, yes, it is an island with some drywall on the front side. Interestingly, most of the house sinks, bathrooms, have the AA valves, and they are wall-sinks. I'll let ya'll know how it goes after viewing the vid :).

Re: Sink Stink

Interesting. We live in Loveland Co, and this was a new build inspected on build completion and again before buying. We run the dish washer daily, sometimes 2-3 times a day (family of six). Thoughts: I may re-replace the air admittance valve and the washer disposal line. An above the sink air-gap ma...

Sink Stink

I have a relatively new house, 2015. Last year, a similar smell happened, stinky under the sink. I changed the air-admittance valve, and it seems to have resolved. It's back. I plan to change this and the dishwasher drain hose but I'd like anyone to review how they set up the drain hose... it's drai...

Sandbox cover

I have a sandbox in my back yard that is the shape of a rounded triangle, kindof like this: http://www.vectorstash.com/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/vectorstash-roundedtriangle.png?itok=w5SoZAKc It's 13x11. It's surrounded with 4x10 to 4x12 rock shale/slab as a border, so it varies in heig...

Re: 14-2 14-3 question

Hello. So, the 14-2 pulls the 120v. I've been wiring the 3-way switch as follows. 1.) twisting together the grounds and using a green ground nut with a whole in the top and attaching this to the green on the switch. 2.) twisting together and capping the white neutrals, pushing them back in the box. ...

Re: 14-2 14-3 question

I had a friend help with finishing my basement. He did all the electrical, and then had to move.... Anywhoo, leading into my basement is my stairwell, then a door to the basement. At the bottom of my stairway into the basement, there is a double-gang box. Looking at the box, the switch on the right ...

Re: 14-2 14-3 question

Hello,

If I have power for both wires what does this indicate?

Previously, it looked like they were on a 3 way switch. However, any way I wire it in any configuration between black powers as point and red switching around doesn't seem to work.

Any direction is appreciated!

14-2 14-3 question

First, thanks for your previous responses, they got me wired in for a 3 way switch. New subject, how can I identify the hot wire vs. the light wire from a switch box with 14-2 and 14-3 wiring. This will be on a 3 way switch. I'm wondering if I can just hook it up and see if it works, and if not, swa...

2way removal, 3 way install, question

I have a double-gang box at the bottom of my stairs (then there is a door, then the basement)... one switch is a 3-way that controls the stair light, the other USED to be for the basement lights until we put in a new sub-panel, framing, electrical etc. This switch is from the upstairs panel. The new...

Basement Finish Bathroom

I'm working on finishing my basement. The previous owner had it framed, electrical rough in, plumbing rough in an drywall up.

However, for the bathroom, it is completely drywalled. Do I need to take down the drywall around the bath/shower for appropriate install?

Thanks!
