Auto paint question

Attached is a photo of a spot on my new truck's paint. The guy at the car wash says it is bee poop, which will not wash off. Any ideas on how to get rid of it and, more importantly, how to protect the paint from this sort of problem? (Yeah, I know, this is a House Improvements forum, but you guys se...

Re: How to reroute ducting

I'm just guessing that it's structural, as (1) it seems to run the whole width of the attic, and (2) it stopped the last guy who tried to put in the skylight. I'm not planning to move it; I'm trying to go around it to the next bay over. Unfortunately, there's almost no slack in this line. Where woul...

How to reroute ducting

I need to run a Velux flexible tube skylight from the opening in the roof down to the bay where the ducting now runs (the bay directly below the skylight has a structural 2x6 running through it, which is why the last guy abandoned the job). I've never done HVAC work; how much work would it be to cut...

8" dado blades on 10" saw?

I have a Dewalt DW744 table saw. The blade that came with it is a 10". I'd like to use dado blades; DeWalt tech support says the recommended blades are DW7670, which are 8". Does that sound ok?
(Never used dado blades before.)
Thanks

Veneer chair seat rippled

As you see, the seat of this chair turned out to be a veneer, which rippled when it got wet. Can the veneer be replaced?

Need slower irrigation drip

I have a couple of pots on the front porch connected to my irrigation drip system. However, as you see, I haven't been able to find a slow enough drip; it always overflows. I've tried the kind that adjusts down and now have a 1/2-gal/hour drip tip on it (see photo), but these are still too much. Any...

Re: Fan switch not working right

Looks hard wired to me (see photo). The old fan never moved; it's still hanging from the ceiling. Upon closer inspection, there are 4 small switches within the switch. In one of them, nos. 1 and 3 were switched to "on"; in the other, nos. 1 and 2. I just replicated these settings in the new switches...

Fan switch not working right

The overhead fans in my sons' rooms stopped working, so I replaced them. Now, the low, medium, high buttons do nothing, but the on-off switch does, turning it to full blast or off. Any idea what's wrong and how to fix it? Here's the switch: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BM51LCW/ref=oh_aui_det...

Paint bottom of garden gate?

I'm replacing a garden gate for a client, who's old one rotted out. After putting 3 coats of paint on the new one, I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't have painted the bottom surface, as this would tend to trap any moisture that did get into the wood, promoting rot.
Opinions?

Leaking connection between wall bracket and shower hose

My client has Graff shower fixtures, but it looks like the actual shower head and hose were replaced at some point with California Faucets. The connection between the hose and the Graff wall bracket has 6 little holes in the bottom (above the plumber's tape), which remain exposed and from which wate...

Not surprisingly, the bannister shown below is wobbly (attachment to the wall is not tight). Any ideas on stabilizing it? (I don't know why my pics alway come out sideways, sorry.)
Thanks.

Reattaching cut stone to pillar

Any ideas on a good adhesive to reattach this cut stone to the pillar? I'm afraid that if I use regular brick mortar, (1) the stone will fall off before it cures, and (2) it will be too thick.
Thanks.

how should I rebuild day care outdoor choo-choo train

Attache are photos of the remains of an outdoor preschool choo-choo train that I've been asked to put back together. I'm thinking that plywood is a bad idea, need to use boards, but is there a plywood that will stand up to outside use? Or suggestions on what type of wood for the boards?

Thanks,

My client wants me to connect an existing round roof skylight (see photo) to the bedroom below. Any ideas on how to do this? (Square or rectangular would be easy.)(For some reason, the photo loaded on its side; the skylight is in the roof, on top.)

Different hinge placement--Assa Abloy

I recently ran into this different hinge placement in a hotel, two high, one low--Assa Abloy hinges. Makes sense, since most of the weight will pull from the top.
