Need help replacing closet flange

Hi guys, I'm in the process of re-doing the floor in my bathroom on my concrete slab house. When I removed the toilet I noticed the existing cast iron flange was rotted away to almost nothing. There was no way I would be able to get a closet bolt, or even a spanner flange on the remnants of the old ...

Sealing shower surround to tub

Hi guys, I am currently re-doing the tile surround enclosing my bathtub. For the substrate I used 1/2" hardibacker board which I placed directly above the tub flange. I thought I would ask what specific methods you guys would recommend to seal the surround to the tub. I've seen guys use a tape type ...

Insulating wall between bathroom and dining room

Hi guys, I am in the process of remodelling a bathroom in my house that is directly adjacent to the dining room. Before I put up the drywall I was thinking about insulating the wall between the bathroom and dining room; not so much for temperature, but to keep any bathroom noises out of the dining r...

Re: Vinyl siding around patio door

Thanks for the advice Shannon. I purchased some PVC brick mold, which made the final setting of the J-channel much more straight forward. Now I get to turn my attention to the inside.

Vinyl siding around patio door

Hi guys, I'm in the process of installing a sliding patio door on the back of my house. The door is replacing a window of the same width. I have the rough opening I need to accommodate the new door, however, I'm a little stumped on how to terminate the vinyl siding around the door frame. With the na...

Garage Door Opener Power Outlet Location

Hi guys, I just installed a garage door opener in my single car garage and have a questions about the power outlet location. I was planning on putting a boxed duplex receptacle in the ceiling slightly above and behind the opener itself so it will be out of the way of the door and trolley rail. Are t...

Re: Close to Grade Deck Planning

I was planning a screened in section, rather than a permanent addition. I honestly have not given much thought to the roof over the future screened in section, but I assume it would need to attach to the house roof, unless there is an alternative. Thanks!
