Re: How to cover this garage floor?

Thanks Spruce, Do you have an idea on what product to use to flatten the rough surface where the cement is very worn sand the rocks are shown? I don't know what the black stuff is, it's a little thick, it may be the mastic that was used to attached the tiles that are all over the house. It may conta...

How to cover this garage floor?

Hi, I live in a 50 years old house and the garage floor is pretty ugly, I would like to paint it or cover it in the most cost effctive way (it's 400 sqft ) so this.may get expensive if I get a 2$ per sqft floor. There are 3 problems that I see that may prevent me from just rolling some garage paint ...

Re: how to make new laminate floor connect to a sloped existing laminate floor

Hi Shannon,
when he removed the nail strip, it broke many of the tiles, is this normal?
Are the rooms contaminated with asbestos because of the broken tiles?

How can we clean it if so, he placed the backer boards in one room already

Hi Shannon, My back is killing me so I will let go of these $480 He is using Hardie backer because he has a container full if it from another project, and he says he is selling it to me for what he paid for and that it should be cheaper than plywood. If he is OK with cutting it, is there other conce...

Re: how to make new laminate floor connect to a sloped existing laminate floor

Hi Shannon, I have a lot of projects right now so I decided to hire a flooring contractor, he suggested to elevate the 3 rooms to match the height of the hallway, with hardie backer concrete boards 1/2" 3x5, which he will sell me for 10$ each. He will charge $350 for the 35 boards, and another 480 f...

Re: I'm sorry to ask again, but I think I found more asbestos!

Hi Shannon. It is on the outside, but im worried about contamination of the flex and boot from the inside because of the crumbling tiles, is this concern right in your opinion? I am bringing a laminate installer in 2 days to tear up the carpets and put new floor, he will use trafficmaster brand and ...

Re: need advice on pealing ceiling paint after abatement

Hi guys, Thanks for the detailed answers ,I really appreciate it. I applied GARDZ and waited 20 hours, and applied tape to see if it peels, and it is much more stable, GARDz is kind of sticky when you touch it , I can get little bit of primer +GARDZ off but not as much as when the primer was there b...

Re: need advice on pealing ceiling paint after abatement

Thanks, I could have done this with the pop-corn instead of this mess. Anyway, the latest update is that I got something called GARDZ , it was an advise by a painter that came to look at it, he says he can scrape some of it to have a grip, and then apply GARDZ on the entire surface, and then regular...

Re: need advice on pealing ceiling paint after abatement

Thanks, So you mentioned "strip off" the primer in one of your previous messages, how would I do that if not with sanding, just apply duct tape in most places to create better traction for the next layer of primer? Do you think I should contact the abatement contractor to take responsibility for thi...

Re: need advice on pealing ceiling paint after abatement

BTW, I brought a painter to look at it, he says that he can sand it down to expose only a few areas of drywall, so that the new primer will stick better, This sounds like an asbestos dust to me, he didn't seem that concerned, maybe because his worker will do it, he just said that he can connect a HE...

Re: need advice on pealing ceiling paint after abatement

Thanks Shannon,

But like Spruce says, why would there be a layer of dust from the asbestos pop-corn mix left on the drywall?

Can this dust contain asbestos?

Is this typical that after pop corn removal so much dust is left on the ceiling?

Thanks,

Re: need advice on pealing ceiling paint after abatement

Thanks, One other thing about the abatement. They removed the pop corn but also a linoleum floor at the same time, they first covered the floor and walls to remove the pop corn, and then removed the cover from the floor to pull it off, at that time the ceiling was wet, and some particles from the fl...

Re: need advice on pealing ceiling paint after abatement

Thanks, Lets put my fear of asbestos aside for a minute, what would you do in this case, would you just patch the areas that fell off and hope the rest will not fall off? Thanks again, Im feeling so bad about this. I tried to apply more tape in the room, and the primer layer is falling off anywhere I apply it in the ceiling. Thanks Shannon, So there's no need to peal off all the primer from the room? Hi, I had pop corn ceiling and got abatement company to scrape it off, they left a flat but dusty surface where you can see the drywall mud ( the mud is also made of 2% asbestos) , the surface was dusty and left white residue when I touched it. I thought I will put some texture on it, but I read tha...

Yes so this tile is 3% asbestos, and the black mastic is not asbestos, just got the results. The paper around the registers boots is also asbestos , 30%. My questions: 1) would you replace the entire duct system with the boots and flex duct, because pieces from the tile may have fallen in the boots,...

Hi, I found that under the carpet, there's a very ugly looking tile, that it is literally falling apart around the furnace registers, in addition, it is glued to the sub-floor by black mastic, which I read that is probably asbestos.
