Treated wood

Hi,
I’m planning to build a small add-on mudroom/entryway (insulated, heated, finished, etc.) by concrete pier and beam method. Should my beam and/or floor joists be treated? I’m in a wet and snowy region.

Concrete mixes

I have access to loads of blasting abrasive “silica sand”. Can I use this as an aggregate, along with 1” clear gravel, in a concrete mix for a frost wall? Is it beneficial or detrimental to strength and durability over regular cement sand? I was thinking a 3:2:1 mix.

The contractor bailed on me anyway, so it looks like I'm just going to backfill the trench and attack it again next summer. Bummer.

Hey, So I want to finish my basement and need to waterproof the poured-cement foundation walls. This summer I dug out the foundation and removed my 'Big-O' drain pipe (which was partially collapsed and full of silt) and starting prepping the walls for installation of IKO Aquabarrier FP membrane and ...
