Re: Re building my 18x30 remote cabin roof

Hi Shannon, In your Jan 29 (9h21) post you mentionned TGI joists. Are they what we called here I-joist made of studs and OSB glued together in an I shape type of assembly. Re: Re building my 18x30 remote cabin roof

Thanks a lot for your help, I still have a few months to come up with the best solution for me. As for the link to paypal, it doesn't work. I'have tried te reconnect but still doesn't work. For whatever reason, it keeps saying that the session has expired. Any other way to make a contribution?

Re: Re building my 18x30 remote cabin roof

There used to be a road built for timber operations 25 or 30 years back that is now kind of a trail on about 3 km from where I park my vehicule. A few years back, I sold the only other cabin around that lake to a friend and we will, eventually, work on that trail to be able to drive our vehicule rig...

Re: Re building my 18x30 remote cabin roof

Hi Shannon, Rimouski (Que) would be the closest city. I would say the snow load is important where the cabin is located. I go there quite often to clean the roof. The actual roof is quite strong tho. But I don't want the snow to accumulate to the breaking point :) (no stress test here!) But since I'...

Re: Re building my 18x30 remote cabin roof

Yes, gable style. One support wall but will run perpendicular to the ridge so, the rafters will have to run the entire space between exteriors walls and the ridge (run=9'). With an attic which means there gonna be ceiling joists (also to be build) that will run about 18'. Longest material: 14' Slope...

Re building my 18x30 remote cabin roof

Hi Shannon, First of all, thanks for sharing all that material with us. Greatly appreciated! This summer, I'm planning to remodel my cabin which is an 18' X 28' building and would like to have your thoughts on how to build a 30' ridge. The cabin is located in a very remote area and buying trusses is...
