Re: Insulate garage ceiling

The joists should be 24 inches on center, so the void is 22 1/2 inches. So yes, the insulation should stay up there on it's own until u apply the poly.

Or u could get faced insulation with the vapor barrier attached to the insulation and staple the paper barrier to the joists and forgo the poly.

Re: Grout haze on tile

Ohh it sounds like a textured tile? This won't help, but next time use a sealer over all the tile before grouting if it is textured. This will make clean-up much easier. Sounds like your in for some time using good ol fashioned elbow grease. I have also made this mistake years ago with tiles with ti...

Paver question

I have laid 500 sq ft of cement brick pavers(4x8ish inch) in my backyard. I have been toggling with one question. Is it ok to tamp the pavers with a plate compactor without the pad between the metal and pavers? My hd doesn't rent out the pad. Not really worried about them cracking, but more about th...

Re: Fence post

It might be ok, don't use anything bigger than a quarter and make sure u tamp it down before u put in the post and concrete.

Hopefully it's a vinyl fence and you won't have to worry about rot....

Re: need ideas for exterior

I have had some decent results painting vinyl siding, but if you don't own a commercial grade sprayer I would not do it. The texture left from a brush is sometimes not pretty up-close. Also, some paints will warp your siding over time in the sun, so do some research if you go that route. I agree to ...

Re: Cordless Tools

I have had two sets of the reds, but not the fuels. So red Jrs I guess. First set was stolen from my truck.....people suck. I got the second set from the big orange home store. Searched hard and found one with drill, impact driver, circular saw, sawzaw, multi-tool, shop vac, and 4 batteries (2.0, 3....

Re: Installing foam insulation on a house with no soffit

Those are great ideas! I like the first idea a little better. I don't mind the drip edge sticking out past the shingles, especially if I go with a black drip edge. The only thing that worries me is wind-driven rain or melting snow sneaking along the new drip edge and under the shingles. I am thinkin...

Re: Installing foam insulation on a house with no soffit

My lack of phone skills is showing. I'll try again, but the siding is flush with the fascia board.

Installing foam insulation on a house with no soffit

I recently replace the roof on my rancher style house. I kind of goofed because I didn't think to add soffits to the sides of my house at the time. I now want to add R-value to my house with foam insulation, however adding the 2 inch thick foam and new siding would leave a gap at the top of my house...
