Re: If you had $10k to improve the curb appeal of this house

Thank you, looking forward to that photoshop if she happens to come through. Another idea I had, removing the shutters altogether might give more space and balance to allow for a portico. I'm not sure if the shutters are really necessary especially if you have stone laminate to help break up the vas...

If you had $10k to improve the curb appeal of this house

If you had $10,000 to improve the curb appeal of this house, and intended to do the labor yourself, what would you do? I would appreciate hearing the thoughts and advice of those experienced with this sort of thing. Any details, tips or pictures you could provide would be appreciated. FYI the house ...

Re: How to replace a front eaves

What do you call those things on the side of the doors? Would it be possible to put just a faux one to the right of the door to try to get more symmetry?

Re: How to replace a front eaves

I wonder if it would be plausible to repaint the house gray and retain the white accents, put a stone laminate on the lower portion, something similar to this. Also, maybe I could also make a matching stone portico such as this one

Re: How to replace a front eaves

Thank you for that advice! Yes I was trying to work something out like that in my head but just lack the experience to be able to work out what it would look like. I do like that idea and also I think it would be a less ambitious project for me as well. I think I would also like to repaint the house...

Re: How to replace a front eaves

Thank you for your advice! I like the idea of extending the portico all the way out to the walkway that is parallel to the house. My only question is this, extending it out so far would also necessitate making it wider so that it maintains proportions, however, with the window shutters being on eith...

However, I am interested in learning how to do exterior improvements to my new home and embarking on some projects of my own. My first question is what do you call the o...

Buying a fixer upper and wanting advice

Hello, I am new to home owning and house-improvements, however I am currently shopping for my first house and I want to purchase something that I can fix up on my own so that I can afford to have a nicer home than I otherwise would have. I also think that it will be something that I will enjoy doing...
