If Im not to late in responding.. if your going to cut aluminum then you need a zip cut made for aluminum. The results between steel and aluminum zip are night and day ;)

Yeah Im leaning hard on doing it that way. This will allow me to move forward with laying down 10mil poly and then getting the walls sprayed with opencell. A permanent dehumidifier will be installed. Its rained about once a week here for the month of Oct.. but the crawl remains at a steady 88% humid...

I have a Crawl space that is about 3' high. It is completely open concept at this time and I would like to encapsulate it. In some areas the crawl is as low as 18". Thanks for your reply Shannon. This makes it much easier for me to make up my mind. I'll just go ahead with the ceiling then.. which if fine by me as I don't think I could sit on my hands till spring :D I just need to make sure the crawl space will be safe for the winter ie: insulate water pipes etc...
