Re: Vapour barrier suggestions needed

You have the subfloor but not the finished floor? Pity you didn't stretch 6 mil poly across the joists beforehand. Not sure poly should be on the inside side of a subfloor; you may be better off with the 2" foam with the spray foam. Check with your jurisdiction to see if that alone is suitable vapor...

Yeah or just buy an older vehicle that doesn't have it, or wait til a newer vehicle doesn't have it when they figure out it isn't selling and stop manufacturing it.

Remember quadrasteer?

Also, why isn't Buick pronounced like Quick? Cause it would sound like 'bwick' ... people would think you were saying brick with a lisp  Actually that's not a lisp, it's a different speech impediment called rhotacism. People who pronounce an 'r' with a 'w' sound. Think if Elmer Fudd were in As...

I'm personally not a fan of crap that is complex and looks like it will easily break or fail, you know like some Rube Goldberg thing. That tailgate step thing looks like just such a thing. Power windows and door locks were marvelous inventions, particularly door locks with remote fobs. If they break...

Geezus Spruce, he works with a bunch of dudes, you know how bad they'd heckle him if he put a back-up cam on the truck especially after he'a already getting hazed by his backup mistake earlier. Good friend of mine has had three Mazda 6's in the last 15 years or so, actually the first one was back when it was called 626. He swears by them.

I forgot, I also had an early 80s buick. Mid-size, can't remember what it was. It was like driving a couch down the road ... I didn't keep it very long !
That is what is *always* said about Buicks, that it's seats are couches.

Also, why isn't Buick pronounced like Quick?

Oh how can I forget, I briefly owned a '93 Honda Civic Del Sol. That car was cheap and fun, and had a removable hardtop roof! The two-seater also had amazing legroom.

I'd stick with the metal boxes with those vapor barrier pockets. Metal boxes are just stronger and more durable, my two cents about the electrical. If you can reuse what you already have go for it, but be sure to use those poly pockets.

Re: Dimmer switch

How many cables are in the switch box? The switch (whether dimmer or normal on/off) generally only uses the hot (black). But sometimes the white wire is used as a hot in a switch loop type of light switch circuit, so you will see this already connected to the on/off switch you are replacing. In this...

Re: Adding Joists to an Existing Deck

Question on behalf of the OP: should the decking be removed before adding joists, or after? Thinking before, so the joists can be tapped into place snug with the underside of the existing deck boards, and joist hangers fastened tightly and securely. On the other hand if the deck boards are removed f...

Yeah trucks are so less utilitarian than they used to be. Can you even order a manual transmission, vinyl seats, and no carpeting? I highly doubt it. Those old vinyl seat no-carpet ones you could just hose down the interior!! Lol Look the bed!!! I also LOVE the two-tone. 483644BC-6F23-4E5F-88D6-FBCA...

Re: Mismatched Vinyl Siding

Have you exhaustively looked for matching siding color? Don't stop with the big box stores, be sure to consult with siding companies that have access to the supply chain. Then you can just replace siding on one side of the house and it will more-or-less be imperceptibly different than the other side...

Conduit is a GOOD thing. You guys have higher quality electrical construction in the Chicagoland area versus the rest of the county.

I've got a digging bar, and all you can do is heft it into the air and bring it to bear with all your might a ridiculous number of times to make these materials give way. Spruce you gotta take the garden hose and soak the bejesus out of spot where you're gonna dig a post hole.

Soak. Dig a bit till it gets dry. Soak again. Repeat til the hole is deep enough.

Spray yourself down for heat relief as you're working.
