Re: Question about this electrical breaker

So the ground rods/plates would be installed on the outside of my house or is that something on the inside in order to connect it to the panel? If so on the outside, how would that wire run to the inside of my panel? I dont mind doing the digging/hammering, as I already did all the crazy trenching ...

Re: Question about this electrical breaker

I had my water meter relocated previously from the front of my house to the underneath of the stairs... and the piping is done with polypropylene, The person put a ground clamp at the beginning of the water pipe where it comes into the house and then had it put like this, but when my waterproofing ...

Re: Question about this electrical breaker

I was talking to a buddy of mine this morning. He did residential years ago. He said that your panel can have a total of 24 circuits on it. You currently have 19, so you can replace the 2 'larger' breakers with tandems, and you will have 5 spots available. He installed hundreds of those panels 'bac...

Re: Question about this electrical breaker

Hmm, yeah this guy seems busy or lazy, because he suggests I just keep my current panel and make room, and that the use of the thinner breakers and this brand of panel has been around Winnipeg in both old and new builds and that there is no risk with it. That's true to an extent ... many panels lim...

Maybe he's prosing you change some single-pole breakers to tandems, and perhaps consolidating some circuits. Re: Question about this electrical breaker

Thanks for noticing the dryer one, I just went and moved it over so it doesn't cause problems, I couldn't find that diagram anywhere :( This panel was poorly labelled. Hey JMac, Re-reading this, I think we misunderstood each other. The dryer breaker is in the correct spot in the picture you posted ...

Re: Question about this electrical breaker

We would really need the panel circuit diagram to tell you for sure. If you put in a tandem, you have to make sure that you have one pole on each phase. Looks like in the second pictures, someone replace the 30A dryer double pole with a tandem, but it is shifted one space so it's picking up opposit...

Re: How to deafen sump pump...

Looks like a threaded metal insert encased in plastic and the plastic has broken? You should be able to glue the plastic back together with something like Shoe Goo or other strong and stiff adhesive. The bad threads can be cleaned up with a tap and die and lubricated with some WD-40 or grease to ke...

Re: How to deafen sump pump...

Get yourself some 1/8" packing foam sheet, pipe wrap used to insulate pipes that penetrate concrete, or similar and wrap the pipe under the straps. Additionally, install a section of rubber hose between the pump and discharge tube, preferably after the lift section of discharge, just so you don't e...

Re: Question about this electrical breaker

Without seeing the backplane of the panel or a circuit diagram, I’m guessing that the panel may accomodate tandem breakers anywhere. So the manufacturer labeled each slot with a pair of contiguous numbers, as shown: 1, 2; 3, 4; ...; 23, 24. A non-tandem single-pole breaker takes the full slot, so i...

How to deafen sump pump...

I finished the plumbing of my sump pump with ABS pipe, and currently in order to hold the pipe up and prevent sag I used metal strapping for duct work and screwed those into the joists, however when the sump pump kicks on it causes a LOT of vibration and noise throughout the house and I can hear it ...

Wonder how Gas tankless would be.. get the cheap rates of gas and almost no real estate space wasted, does it drain/condensate, and if so if I could get a condensation pump like my furnace?

Re: hot water tank options.

Hard to really get a feel for the layout of your entire room and all the obstacles, but remember you should put a tray under the water heater and you could then plumb that over to the drain if possible? I do agree electric who will be much more to run then a gas one. Hmm, maybe ill look into that o...

Re: Question about basement electrical

One of the resident electrical pro's can give you the specifics regarding code requirements and whatnot, I'm not a pro and this isn't my area of expertise. However, that being said my advice would be if you've already got things opened up you're better off adding more circuits now rather than findi...

Re: Help!! Bathroom Tub/Shower Faucet Stem nightmare.

You never told us if you have access from the back of this plumbing valve area? If you do you could make all the repairs from there with minimal tile work or maybe even none if you can find valves with the same spread. Or maybe even use a set that are all separate parts. If you had to go to a one v...

Re: Help!! Bathroom Tub/Shower Faucet Stem nightmare.

Stems are NOT one size fits all, every brand and every model has something different, so you'll have to take the stems to a supplier, I would recommend either an Ace Hardware or plumbing supply house, not a big box. There, you will be able to match up what you have with new. As for the seats, the s...

Re: Question about spray foam basement

I've never used sprayed insulation, so I can't tell you exactly how it's going to react. IMHO, an experienced spray technician will be able to squirt fairly deep cavities and have good success filling them without voids. The added benefit of sprayed foam, of course, is that it also acts as a moistu...

Hey Shannon & others, I am looking to have my basement spray foamed...
