Re: Interconnecting Smoke Alarms (only 14/2 wire)

Pre-existing house with renos.

The reason I'm wondering about the 14/2 is cause I have lots of it and don't want to go buy 14/3 if I can use up the 14/2.

Note that the power supplies would be from the same breaker.

Interconnecting Smoke Alarms (only 14/2 wire)

Hi, I understand the standard way of wiring and interconnecting smoke/co2 alarms. Using 14/2 from power source and then 14/3 to interconnect all the subsequent alarms. See attached image: Smoke-Detector-Wiring-Diagram (standard).png Wondering if it's possible to interconnect only using 14/2 wire. Ra...

Re: Moisture & Vapor Barrier with Resilient Channel (R1)

Cool and thanks again. Regarding the putty wrap - any idea where I can get some of that? I've gone to Rona, Home Depot, Kent Building Supplies and have checked online (amazon) and people don't either carry the product or are out of stock. Example: https://www.amazon.ca/QuietPutty-Acoustical-Pads-Put...

Re: Moisture & Vapor Barrier with Resilient Channel (R1)

I guess I prematurely installed my res bar. Technically could I just install my poly over the res bar or should I do it "right" and put it behind the res bar? Also few more questions... - Would you suggest a different type of drywall for the outside walls? - Would you use Roxul safe and sound on the...

Re: Moisture & Vapor Barrier with Resilient Channel (R1)

Thanks for your reply. Installing R1 on ceiling, interior wall and exterior wall to decouple the drywall from the 2x4 framing. It's going to be a music/jam space so I'm trying to isolate and sound proof as much as I can within a reasonable budget. The plan... Ceiling: - 6" of roxul safe and sound - ...

Moisture & Vapor Barrier with Resilient Channel (R1)

Hey man - doing my basement over from bare-concrete walls. Here's my situation and question. - On the concrete wall I've installed and sealed 1" rigid/closed cell foam pink board - Framed my walls with 2x4 - 24" OC - Put in fiberglass pink insulation - Installed resilient channel - 16" OC I was plan...
