Re: A few questions before I install new vinyl siding

I'm not sure why they started the old siding so low but if you want to stay that low then you can use either a started strip of J channel at the bottom.I'm assuming they are trying to cover something up? If you are going to start that low I would start the first row about an inch above the concrete...

Securing vinyl brickmould

When installing vinyl brickmould around exterior windows/doors I want to make it doesn't shrink to where the seams split.

Should I cement and screw the miter joints together and then screw from the bottom of the window sill?

Thanks,

Re: A few questions before I install new vinyl siding

So I am about ready to start at the back of the house and tear the old crap off. I'm just trying to have an answer for every obstacle I can see. Re: A few questions before I install new vinyl siding

I generally remove the tar paper and discard it so that I can be sure there is no rot or other issues being covered up. I then use a house wrap to cover the walls and finally siding over that.House wrap is really pretty inexpensive ,maybe about .10cents a square foot depending where you live. Sound...

A few questions before I install new vinyl siding

Hi. I live in northeastern wisconsin and have a ranch home with a hip roof. It currently has fiberboard? siding on the top half and aluminum siding with some white foam backing on the bottom half. I'm looking to tear that off and replace with vinyl siding. I pulled off a little section of siding to ...
