8" dado blades on 10" saw?

Post by RPD » Wed Oct 03, 2018 7:04 am

I have a Dewalt DW744 table saw. The blade that came with it is a 10". I'd like to use dado blades; DeWalt tech support says the recommended blades are DW7670, which are 8". Does that sound ok?
(Never used dado blades before.)
Thanks

Yes dado blade sets are commonly 8". They are cheaper then larger sets and work just fine since you seldomly would ever need the full sized blades cutting dados. The main thing to be sure of is that the arbour size is the same as your saw. The arbour is the shaft the blade slips onto.

As Shannon said, dado cuts are shallow, so larger blades are not necessary unless you have a specific need.

A stacked set is a much better style than a "wobble" blade, they make a better cut and they're easier on your saw.
If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.
