Kitchen Backsplash

Post by tyson91 » Fri Mar 22, 2019 10:57 am

Hey everyone,

My wife and I just did a kitchen renovation with our contractor and we want to do the backsplash as a DIY project together. However, there are uneven areas in some parts of the wall where the backsplash is going to be installed. If you guys have any recommendations on the best way to even out the walls, please let me know. I attached pictures of how the uneven areas of the wall looks like.

What kind of backsplash are you installing?
If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

We don’t have the exact style picked out yet but it will be either ceramic or porcelain tile.

Ok so tile. Just get the biggest lumps and bumps off with a scrapper or end of a "red bar" and use mastic to install the tiles.
You pictures are kinda close ups and its hard to see exactly what you have there but if those are the bad spots scrape them off and away you go.The mastic will stick a little better if you prime the scraped surfaces first though.
