Tub surround and drywall preparation

Post by whiskers53 » Fri Sep 07, 2012 10:19 am

Just added all new drywall in the bathroom and we will be putting up a tub surround. The dry wall has been taped and mudded etc but if we are using Tub surround should we still prime and paint the drywall in that area. We used the green drywall which helps prevents the moisture and mold . From my view it would not hurt to prime and paint it with a moisture - mold paint too. What are your thoughts.

Yes I always prime the entire area and 1st coat of paint as well behind the tub surround. Be sure to let the paint dry well before installing the surround, usually 48Hrs if possible.
