I currently working on retiling my shower. I want to install a frameless shower door. Does that type of door need to be mounted to a stud or can it be anchored in tile? There is a vent pipe behind the wall so I can’t install a stud. Advice?

Shower doors are generally installed with plastic screw anchors:

You will drill a hole of the appropriate diameter and depth for the anchor, the thickness of the tile and drywall should be enough, but if you're working directly over that vent stack you have to be very careful that you don't drill through it or put a screw into it, so be mindful of what you're doing. 8-)

BTW, "frameless" only means that the door panels themselves do not have frames, you will still have top, bottom, and side tracks around the door.
If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.
