Self leveling floor

Post by Jmaclicious » Fri Nov 23, 2018 8:13 pm

Okay so I am doing my bathroom, I want to make the shower pan area perfectly level, however the rest of the floor is relatively “flat” but just unlevel because of drainage in my basement. Would it be okay to self level the shower pan area perfectly level, let dry and then pour self leveler over the rest of the bathroom to fill in the valleys/dips ?

I originally had planned to level the whole floor but then it would require building the whole floor up towards the rec room an inch and a bit. Which on top of ditra and tile I feel would be too much so I’m thinking about doing the above. This should be okay yeah?

It may work depending on the dips and valleys. What type of floor covering will you use?

I think I may need to add some more cement as when i did it i had the blocking within the door, I am going to be going with the pocket door as well as Ditra TB/DUO heat with tiles transitioning to a DMX airflow + carpet, however i feel like if I install the pocket door the carpet will be exposed in the bathroom and make it look weird.. thoughts on what i should do ? Should I add more cement to bring it out further?

Generally the transition between floorings would be under the door so i would come out that far.

So just bring it in the middle of the pocket door opening? I won't have any issues installing the door guides?

The guilds usually go on the door jamb. See my video at about the 30:30 mark.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKS9tGa2Gos
