Fur out 2x3 stud walls

Post by 204999 » Mon Dec 03, 2018 9:41 am

Renovating my basement and thinking of furring out walls to accommodate insualtion. Right now I have 1 inch white foam against the foundation that's tapped at the seams, then 2x3 stud walls. I'm thinking of adding 2x2s to the 2x3s and insulate with roxul for 2x4. My final wall thickness would be an actual 4 inches. Any issues using the 2x4 insulation that is actually 3 1/2 inches ? does the 1/2 inch space between the foam and roxul cause any problems?

thanks.

It won't cause any problems at all. Insulation is basically just bubbles of trapped air anyway.
