Drywall anchors in party wall - alose noise insulation?

Post by lewpoo117 » Sat Jan 05, 2019 7:32 pm

Hello,

I am in the middle of using self taping dry wall anchors (or togglers) to mount some floating night stands, however I realized this is on the party wall of a town home complex.

Will I lose significant sound insulation by drilling 6 holes (3 per night stand) into the bedroom wall?

I cannot tell how good the sound insulation is so far because the neighbours have not moved in yet, but I know that during construction of these new homes, they had to perform a pressure test to ensure the units were "air tight" with some form of plastic seals between the walls to help with air (sound) insulation. The party wall construction is:

drywall, insulation, drywall, air gap, drywall, insulation, drywall

Thanks,
M

you are likely to maybe loose some but really you are mounting the night stand tight to the wall so it should kinda seal things up again.
