Insulating Joist spaces

Post by 1Claudio » Mon Nov 04, 2019 3:17 pm

Hello i recently watched a video on this topic Shannon had made and was extremely helpful.
I have a couple of question though.
The space we have to insulate it around 4 inches deep. I wanted to use the styrafoam method from the video but dont think i can get R20 with styrafoam in 4 inches. Am i better off using fiberglass and vapour barrier or just sacrifice some R value for ease of install with the styrofoam?
Also can you layer the styrafoam to get to your desired thickness for example 2- 2inch pieces or 4- 1inch pieces and seal up the last one with the spray foam around the edges?
Thanks in advance

Yes, just double up the foam and you will be good to go!
