Basement wall insulation

Post by Jason7384 » Thu Jan 09, 2020 7:30 am

I was wondering about insulating basement walls , I watched your video on it but my question is, by attaching the foam directly to walls then studding out walls and insulating with batt insulation, would that promote mold or mildew growth between foam and concrete? I have 10” thick walls on my new addition that are 9’ tall, and the top 3’ of walls are above grade.

As long as there is nothing there to feed the mould it will not develop . If your walls need to be in good condition and dry. If there are leaks that must be addressed, preferably from the exterior.

I paid for waterproofing of walls and top of footing before backfill plus there are 6” drains outside and inside of footing no leaks just annoying condensation on egress (escape) window and all 3 other basement windows

Moisture on windows is likely high humidity and cold outdoor weather?
