How To Install a Window with a Nailing Flange

Post by nokaoii » Thu Nov 16, 2017 10:10 am

I'm getting ready to replace several windows in my first solo house remodel.

In your video (below), what is the type or brand of spray you are using here.

I've searched all over for an adhesive promoter and can only find adhesive primers for cars, etc. Would spray adhesive work as well?

Likely what I use is pretty much some kind of spray glue but it is listed as a primer. What membrane product are you using? Does it require a primer? If it does the retailer that sold the membrane to you should have or be able to get the proper primer.

It's Tite Seal by Cofair Products. I bought it from the local Menards.

http://www.cofair.com/window.aspx

It lists using a primer first. I've emailed them to find out if they mean an actual paint primer or some other product.

BTW, thanks so much for all your information and your videos. They are amazing!

FYI.

Someone from the company just contacted me back and said I can use roofing primer such as these:

Good question. This video was about the window install. I consider the Drip cap part of the exterior finish install. Also in this case the window height under the 24" overhang of the eave would not require a drip cap anyways.

Thanks Bob, we appreciate donations form all our supporters.
That is one very large window. Generally huge windows like that will be delivered without glass installed . The frame can be shimmed and installed then the glass will be delivered and installed by the company. You need to be more carefull with the install of the frame as it is easier to install it out of shape.Infact I would likely hire a pro to do the install for that window.Take your time and use a level precisely and also as a straight edge to be sure you have everything perfect.
For me I would prefer to install a series of smaller windows with a small bit of wood framing between them then 1 huge window.
