Deck Stair Guard connection

Post by Vegetable Lasagna » Tue Jul 10, 2018 2:49 pm

Hi Shannon,

Thanks for all the great videos and the web site. I appreciate the detail and Canadian perspective in your videos.

In your deck stair video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwplbhmgoBg , you used a metal concrete to post base for the stair post.

This post base would really simplify some issues I'm having with my stairs.

Would this be suitable to use on a 52" high deck, where the total stair run is ~66" and the rail length will be around 84". My concrete pad is just the size of my stair base, apx 16" x 48", and > 6" deep.

I have a permit in Ontario, but this connection detail was not specified, so it would be up to my inspector to yay or nay after I have everything done.

Thanks!

Yes I believe this connection should pss but you can always ask your local inspector before you go to all the work.
