New outlet in an old house

Post by ddleslie43 » Sun Sep 07, 2014 10:33 pm

I am replacing an outlet in a 2 wire wired house (no ground). I will be running electronics on the circuit and think that a ground connection may be important. Would it be appropriate to use the return wire (white) for the ground connection on the outlet or should I leave the ground connection open? I am not wanting to rewire the electrical in the house.

If you are not going to run an actual ground then leave it open.
If possible you could run a separate ground wire from that one box back to the panel.
