Would it be acceptable to run a washing machine and a 1000 watt microwave on the same 20Amp circuit?
It's fine as long as they're not running at the same time. Though the circuit could maybe handle it. If it can't, the breaker will (should) trip.
If this is a new kitchen reno the kitchen circuits should be on their own.

Washing machine is supposed to be a dedicated circuit.
If the microwave is built-in, it needs its own circuit as well. The exception is for counter top units, they can use the counter receptacles.
That is Canadian code, but I'd imagine NEC would be similar.
