Adding second hydro meter in duplex

Wonder if anyone has experience with this and what it might involve

It really depends on the current situation.
If you have ie. A 200A service, and a 100A subpanel for the other unit, then it's just a matter of coordinating with Hydro to split the incoming to 2 - 100A services. (They require a separate address, like 123 street and 123a street)

If you have just a single panel, sometimes there can be quite a bit of inside wiring to be done to have the 2 units on their own service.

Also, depending on where you live they may not do it for you at all.

In my area if your 'duplex' is not legal (you just added a basement apartment etc). they will not add a 2nd meter.
