Dimming lights

I have one ceiling light that will start out bright when turned on, and then immediately dim , sometimes dimming twice. I thought this was due to running an air conditioner on that circuit, but now it’s happening with no air conditioners running as well. Any ideas?

Is the light controlled with a dimmer switch? Is the light LED? There is sometimes weird behavior with certain LED lights controlled by certain dimmer switches, usually cheaper or older ones that pre-date LED lighting technology. Most of the higher-quality $15+ dimmer switches work well with modern LED lights, Lutron is a particularly a reliable brand for dimmer switches.

No dimmer switch just a regular old light fixture. I’m sorry I may have confused people. The light is literally dimming on its own, usually twice.

Have you tried another bulb?

Are you sure there is not something else on that circuit or even just another larger appliance that keeps cutting in ?

That is my suspicion. But in the troubleshooting process it's always good to rule out the easy things first.
