Big kitchen reno Wayne? Like full gut or what?
Full gut ... plus plus.

Floor stripped to old tongue and groove. Walls were drywall/3/4" tongue and groove/barnboards. I removed drywall and barnboards and insulated, vapour barrier and put back the barnboards. Ceiling drywall removed, and was considering keeping the tongue and grove up there ... now I'm thinking I'll just drywall back on top of it.
All electrical updated, and I moved the sink from the east wall (small window) to the west wall (big window). Just seemed a better place, and allowed me to rough in the new sink, then remove the old and still be able to make dinners !

Door and windows replaced at the same time.
While I was working on it, I noticed some bounce on the floor, so I reinforced the floor from the basement (sistered some joists and added in some extras) ... the exsisting floor was on 36" joists. They were rough 2x10, so it wasn't going anywhere, but I wanted the floor a bit more sturdy !

Old house ... there's enough to keep me busy here for many years to come

All this talk about full guts, beer, and break throughs makes be think of the Kool-Aid pitcher filled with beer busting down the wall!

I'm actually thinking demos might be good when you're half drunk?

Have I ever mentioned just how much I despise silicon caulk? I've got probably 8 hours into removing failed silicon caulk off the nose cone of my trailer because it was leaking and I can't have that going into winter.

Ha, that kid could very well have been me at 6 years old. I remember helping my Dad with renos and gutting at a young age.

Though I'd have been high on sugar at the time, likely.

I wasn't going to bore you fine fellers with trailer details.

If I do much else to it, I'll probably either start a new thread or add it to the Burb thread. Right now I'm just trying to get it winterized so my stuff doesn't get wet. My OCD wants to do all kinds of things, but budget and practicality are screaming NNNNOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! We'll see which personality wins.

Speaking of ... Did you get any snow your way on either of those storms ?

I heard Alberta and part of Sask for the first, and Winnipeg for this latest one.
Wild ... I heard between 60 to 90 cm in some areas. That's 2 to 3 feet

I was gonna say, 50 cm is a healthy snowfall for so early in the year. But I think I heard some western states actually got that amount already, like Montana.

It is getting to be about snow season, isn't it? A YT channel I watch is in Montana, and they had a good dusting a week-ish ago.

While we're not prone to snow here, the weather is getting chilly and rain is imminent, assuming we're going to get some this year.

It's not out of the question for us to get snow in October. It's usually no more than about 6 inches at a time if there is any at all, and then it often just melts into slush by the next day, and then it's dry again. We had our famous Halloween blizzard in 1991 when we got some 6 feet of snow, that was a very rare, record event for how early it happened.

It will usually always snow a moderate amount and then melt away before Thanksgiving. It's usually December when snow starts to accumulate around here, because the ground is finally cold enough. That snow stays in yards until at least April the next year.

Though some years I remember we have had some strange days in March where we might have highs of 75F/24C. I think there was one St. Patrick's Day were it hit like 89F/32C. Enough to melt snow on streets and sidewalks into lakes of puddles, but not enough for the snow pack obviously. But then like two days later it's a blizzard.

I was at Lake Tahoe on a conference in early October (back in '99 ish, early 2000's). I figured, hey going to California and was ready with shorts packed. First morning we were there it snowed

Mind you, by noon it all melted, and was a nice 24˚C (75˚F) .... Swimming weather for a Canuck
