She looks way better today than when I bought her. It's been pushing triple digits here the past few days, so I've not had a chance to finish out the detailing, not a whole lot left, thankfully. The new shiny-shine I got is way less than impressive, goes on slimy and stays slimy, until you go through the car wash and it's completely removed from the vehicle. Everything is clean, but you can't really tell there is any protectant/dressing anywhere.

To your other comment, that is the HUGE advantage to living in a warmer climate where they don't salt roads, no rust or deterioration from that stuff. Also, while the body work done was minor stuff, it has made a huge improvement in her appearance as well. There's a couple things I could be happier about, though overall I'm pleased with the results.

You should try 303 in anything vinyl, rubber, or plastic. Especially black stuff like tire sidewalls and plastic black trim. I'm super impressed with it https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KN0UOEE/

The rust is such a killer here. I'm taking my 03 F150 in to get the rockers & cab corners replaced hopefully next week. I put a lot of the blame on vehicle manufacturers though, they could be doing more to prevent rust but planned obsolescence is more important for the bottom line $$$. Time will tell if the 15+ aluminum F150 will be better in terms of corrosion.

Since I will be detailing vehicles for the rest of my life, I'm ever on the search for products that actually work and do the things they're supposed to. I'll check 303 out. I've also been reading through Bob's The Oil Guy's site on car care products and have found a couple that look interesting. That's where I found the ceramic coating stuff by Macguire's. I want to do a little more research on it, but it sounds pretty promising and well liked. By the posters on BTOG, parts houses can't keep it on the shelf.

I've mentioned it before, I'm a big fan of Bleche White. It's purpose is a tire cleaner, it's what I used on all the black trim on the Burb and it worked spectacularly, whether it was finished with a top coat or just cleaned with BW.

I'm not a GM fan but it's lookin' good. Like new! You don't see those rigs in that good of shape where I live.
I WAS a huge GM fan ... now that they are out of Oshawa, I'm not so sure.
I hear that they are keeping a couple of hundred employees now. Far cry from the 10thousand they had.

My old '98 GMC Sierra was assembled in that Oshawa plant. That truck came with an oddball 305 engine instead of the much more common 350 of the time.

Interestingly, here's some Suburban frames being manufactured by robots in Arlington, TX plant. This photo was from the New York Times.

You know, there's flinging a little poo, and then there is down right mean!

I grew up with a little bit of everything, 60's IH pickup, 50's White flatbed, Ford wagons, Dodge wagons, Chebby wagons, Plymouth van, GMC trucks, Mazda 626, Pontiac, Toyota pickup, more GMC trucks, now the Burb . . . Never had any problems with any of them.

Today, all of them just keep getting uglier and uglier. There isn't an SUV made by any brand that doesn't look like a hearse. All the elekumtronicals are a nightmare too.

Could be worse, could be a dodge lol. My boss got a Ram Rebel maybe a year and a half ago and it's in the shop every 2 months (not including the time he got out of the truck while it was still in drive and those automatic door locks kicked in and he was running alongside it trying to open the door in vain until it ran into the zoom boom).

I got his 2011 Silverado as my work vehicle, that things never been in the shop for anything other than routine maintenance. I'm loving that thing. It doesn't look fancy like those Fords and Dodges, it's a very plain and simple truck, but it just works 99% of the time. The other 1% is random stuff you can't blame on the truck (8 year old battery dying when it was -40 out for a week, stuff like that).

Side note: anyone ever noticed you never see old Fords on the jobsite? You'll see tonnes of 10+ year old Chev/GM Silverado's/Sierras pickups and Safari Vans, but you'll never see a Ford more than 4-5 years old. They claim it's cuz they trade 'em in to get a shiny new one all the time but I think they just crap the bed and it ain't worth it to fix 'em once the warranty is expired.

I keep checking in every so often to see if there's an actual burb with its owner image in this forum.

I don't know who you think has been taking all the pix, every Burb pic in this thread has been taken with it's owner. I've never been more than 10' away in any of them.

HAHA vehicle brand trash talk is as bad as race and religion around some tables and we have really tried to keep those topics out of this forum, hope we don't have to band auto brand talk as well! LOL. I guess I started it?

Nah, trash talking vehicle brands is just fine, so long as we keep GM products out of it. ;)

And, once again, it's Nutzy's fault, he started it! ;) ;)

I like the Raptor in my avatar ... but they start at 60K,,, and once you dress them up at bit :? :o

I have a Blazer ZR2 , although my daughter took it from me for now !

Also have an 03 Dodge work truck. No frills, standard cab, 8' box. No real issues with it, and it sounds nice. The rust is really getting at her thou .

These days, unless Im towing my boat or trailer, I rarely take it out on side jobs. I think that makes me a trunkslammer
