I hope I can re-produce the image of the meter in this message. I've been trying to learn how to read the odometer style water meters by not just looking at the digits but also using the sweep hand info. Some meters have 'dead' or fixed zeros others don't so it's been a bit of a learning curve.
I'm stumped by this meter. What should it read.
The '8' has not fully entered the digit window so I would say it's a 7 (I could be wrong).
The next digit left of that is 0, then tack on the 4/100ths and i'd read this meter as 00147.04
Is this right?

I have no idea.

I think you are reading it correct.
I may read it as 00147.005 to be .04 the pointer would be @ .04 on the scale.

This has been humbling ! Thanks emtnut ... I see that .01 divided by 10 is .001. So that each tick mark between 0 and .01 is .001, i.e., in thousandths. I couldn't see that for a while !
And, since the 0 entering the tenths place on the odometer hasn't centered itself in the digit window it is a 9 because you always round down. I think i get in now. Thanks !

It's not humbling, I worked at the water plant in Ottawa for 10yrs, so I have an unfair advantage

Were you working on circuits while waist-deep in a water cistern?

Not quite, but close.
Many places in the 'pipe gallery' were 99.99999% humidity.
Also fun to climb a 120' water tower, and work on the controls up there. Water dripping on you the whole time.

For the record, we DID NOT go for a swim in the reservoirs on hot days

Enjoy a nice cold glass of water tonite

Yeah I'm missing the punchline too, if there is one.

I thought you were posting your answer pretending you didn't see my post (like in the other thread)
So I was pretending to have you on 'ignore' . (not sure if this forum supports that, some do ! )

I guess it lost a bit in the translation
