Odd adapter for Electric tankless water heater.

Post by peterk2003 » Tue Mar 05, 2019 9:30 am

So i got a Rheem RTEX-13 WH. It appears to me that the fittings on the unit are 1/2 compression. It came with a fitting with 1/2 MNPT threads but I am unsure on the compression side if I am suppose to have some sort of rubber gasket or am I suppose to use the ferrule? Anyone have a clue how this is suppose to work? The instructions that came with it suck.

If the fitting is tapered, no need for rubber washer, if it is flat, then it should have a rubber washer in it.

Can you post a picture?

It has a taper to it. Which is why I didn't see how a rubber washer would work but I saw that someone said that is how it was suppose to be.

So i need the ferrule then?

At the moment I am at work so no pics right now.

If this ferrule threads onto the unit and seats, then this would be what you need to use.
