Outside spigot thread not fitting properly

I have a faucet in my backyard that for some reason, I can't screw anything on it because it won't fit properly. I tried fitting the standard garden hose on it but it won't fit. I also tried getting a 3/4 inch vacuum breaker to put on there but as you see in the picture, that is the farthest I can get it to screw on and then it won't go anymore. I thought that it was probably stripped but it doesn't look like it is. My front yard faucet works fine but there is already a vacuum breaker on it. Is there anything else that I can do before I have to remove the old spigot and replace with a new one?

From the looks of it, the threads on the valve are not standard hose thread, which means you're not screwing on a hose or that vacuum break. You will have to find a vacuum break that has the valve thread on the female side and hose thread on the male side.

Get the fitting that goes from Pipe ( NPT ) to Hose fitting.

Ya those threads are too fine for a hose fitting. Not sure what that valve is meant for?

Thank you for the reply. Can you please show me an example of what you are talking about?

Thank you for taking your time in helping me with my issue. Can you please help me with an example of what it would look like so I can see where I can purchase it?

As Clarence said, it's probably pipe thread, so you need to find a VB with pipe thread on the female (inlet) side and hose thread on the male (outlet) side. The VB will look exactly like the one you have in your picture, with the exception of the female thread being finer. I'd recommend asking for assistance at the store when you buy the new VB. Take the pics with you to show the handy helper.
