Vapor barrier

Post by lynnb » Sat Oct 17, 2015 12:11 pm

Shannon I've been told for in a washroom on an outside wall when using pink insulation between the studs and cement board , this is around the shower/tub that a vapor barrier is not used. What is the proper way for this?
Thanks
Lynn

No that is incorrect, if it is a outside wall you need the vapour barrier.

Thanks Shannon, was something about moisture buildup between the cement board and the vapour barrier , and it wasn't pink insulation we picked up its the dark stuff.

You need a vapour barrier. You also need to use a water proofing product on the cement board before the tiles are installed.
