costs to hire plumber/electician

Post by giro » Mon Jan 07, 2019 11:06 am

I'm new here, and don't know if this question is appropriate.I am helping a family member renovate a kitchen. She's been quoted $650 by a contractor to reinstall (and hook up ) a dishwasher and connect a new sink and faucet after the installation of new cabinets.
She has also been quoted $350 to install an over the stove microwave with a new electric line.
These quotes are from a licensed contractor in Long Island NY.
Do these prices sound somewhat reasonable? Unfortunately,I live several thousand miles away and can't be of any help:(
Thanks for any input.

With the dishwasher, are power, water, and waste already set up? If so, the install is less than an hour and $650 is way too much, if not, it's several hours and the price is probably about right. Same for the microwave, power and vent installed already? If so, price sounds high, if not, price is about right.
