XPS inside and outside?

Post by mgborkoski » Tue Jan 22, 2019 8:46 pm

I have a concrete block basement. One wall was excavated, straightened and reinforced with 2"x3" steel beams. I believe the outside has 2" xps. I'm not sure if it goes all the way down, but I can see it at the top. Is it OK to put 2" xps on the inside, if it also on the outside?

If I can use xps inside, what is the best way to insulate around the beams, that stick out 3"? Place the 2" xps between the beams and then make sure there is 2" of xps all around the beams, making sure everything is sealed?

Yes you should be ok to add it inside as well. But you for sure want to cover the steel columns as well .
