Re: The Official Useless Post Thread
Tahoe is definitely much more laid back, with many beauties all to itself. You got casinos and shows, take the tram to the top of the mountain for views and hikes, hit the lake for watercraft, boating, etc., or take a drive around the lake. Oh, the most important part, visit the Ponderosa! Tahoe is where Bonanza (60's western tv show) was filmed.

Ooh! Hey, look! We're on a new page, know what that means?

I can neither confirm (yes, that) nor deny the validity of that statement.

It was the horns holding up my halo that gave me away, wasn't it?

Isn't that what they call Stockyard Syndrome, where the victim starts empathizing with the torment . . . er, uh, friends giving them a hard time.

Ever see the movie Witless Protection? Stockyard Syndrome is a Larry The Cable Guy-ism.

Re: The Official Useless Post Thread
No but that's funny! I love LTCG, Foxworthy, and perhaps my favorite, the late George Carlin. I've been getting into Bill Burr lately too.
Re: The Official Useless Post Thread
The White Collar Tour was fantastic! The funny thing about that is Jeff has had interviews since then and has said that the tour was before LTCG and Ron White were famous, after the first or second WC tour, they were making good money and didn't want to do the tour anymore. If you haven't seen the WC tour, look it up on YT, it's good stuff. Seeing Larry and Ron on their own, they're ok, but nothing like when they're on the tour with Jeff and what's-his-name, both of whom are way funnier than Larry or Ron!
FWIW, it was the televised series version of the WC tour that spawned the conversations here about "unsolicited deck pix" and "show me yer Johnson"

I'll have to find that and give it a watch
Re: The Official Useless Post Thread
Why are the final details of a project so hard to force myself to finish? Once it's almost finished, it's like my brain refuses to acknowledge that I need one more line of caulking, and a tiny spot of touch-up paint. It would take two minutes, but no, apparently I'd rather write this problem out in detail online than actually just do it.
Re: The Official Useless Post Thread
That happens sometimes.

Re: The Official Useless Post Thread
Finishing is the WORST. I ran out of grout and still have a small section of wall in my bathroom to grout! It's embarrassing to admit.Dia wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 11:26 amWhy are the final details of a project so hard to force myself to finish? Re: The Official Useless Post Thread
We've all been there at one point or another. Truth be told, when I reroofed the house 4 or 5 years ago, I didn't do a 12" wide by 8' long piece. I meant to go back and finish, I have never gotten to it. Out of sight, out of mind.
FWIW, it's a decorative feature of the roof, it doesn't really see any weather or sun, and it's not really visible, so it's a very low priority and easily forgotten . . . until some troublemaker comes along insisting on dredging up painful memories.

Re: The Official Useless Post Thread
Yeah it's actually a good case for hiring a job to get done versus DIY, really, because sometimes complete work done on time is something very much worth paying for in terms of your long-term piece of mind and guilt avoidance. lol
Re: The Official Useless Post Thread
Who doesn't have a room missing a piece of baseboard?

Re: The Official Useless Post Thread
Almost my whole downstairs needs baseboard. Actually I'm installing "mop board" to match the character of the house. So I'm putting in 1x6 primed pine along perimeter of the room with casing above that and 1/4 round at the floor.
I replaced all the old sash windows that had weights with vinyl replacements. Those need to be dressed up more with trim on the sides...
Then of course everything needs to be primed (if not already) and painted with a bright white enamel paint... *sigh*

Re: The Official Useless Post Thread
I still have 2 electrical panels in the basement.
I'm sloooooooly transitioning circuits over. I have about 5 new receptacles in the living room that I've run the wire to, but no receptacle in them yet
As I say .... "it's on the list"
There is definitely something about working on your own home. When I do work for family I always finish up the details ... at home, there always seems to be something more pressing to do.

OMG, too funny. It's so true. I don't think I will ever buy a fixer-upper again! I'm so burned out. lol
There's also the notion that your own house is "boring" and not as interesting as working on other people's house.
Re: The Official Useless Post Thread
When I googled this, it came up with the 'blue collar tour' ... same guys you were talking about, and lots of good stuff on youtube with themA. I always liked Ron White ... partly cause he performed with a glass of scotch all the time (I think he did this before Julien from trailer park boys !), but he really has alot of character

Re: The Official Useless Post Thread
Back in my working days I took the week before Thanksgiving through Christmas "off" of work to remodel my own home. Got just enough done to host a small T-day dinner, then had it finished off by Christmas for the next party. That was A LOT of work, and I needed a vacation afterward, but no, no, I had to go back to work.

FWIW, 2100 square foot, 2-story house, new carpet throughout, half the downstairs was new hardwood with wood border around both the formal living room and family room. Installed new lights (tore up the upstairs subfloor to do it) in the formal living room that was to become the game room, with a regulation pool table, wetbar, electronic dart board, and all the other amenities you'd expect to find in such a room. Once all that was done, I spent the better part of next year of free time building the wet bar, cabinets, and wood trims around the room. Oh, forgot to mention, I milled all my own oak baseboards, so there was time to do that, let them acclimate, then finish them before installation.
