Paver question

Post by Nick M. » Tue May 14, 2019 5:13 pm

I have laid 500 sq ft of cement brick pavers(4x8ish inch) in my backyard. I have been toggling with one question.

Is it ok to tamp the pavers with a plate compactor without the pad between the metal and pavers?

My hd doesn't rent out the pad. Not really worried about them cracking, but more about the plate marring the pavers. Even then I'm thinking that will fade after I add the polymeric sand and tamp again......(I know the steps no need to list them).

I guess I'm seeing if anyone has any experience or educated guesses. Thanks

I see guys cover the pavers with sand and use the tamper right on that. This will do two things , it creates a bit of a buffer between the plate and stones and it helps jiggle the sand into the cracks and making the whole thing more solid.
