Water on Window Frame

Post by jredbank » Thu May 16, 2019 6:29 am

Hi,

I have a picture window under overhang. It became foggy, so I got a new one installed.

The installer told me there is water dropping from the top of the frame when they removed the old one. They think rain somehow got behind the vinyl siding.

The gutters are cleaned every fall a and wasn't clogged. What could be the cause? Thanks.

So, the window glass pane was replaced while keeping the window frame in tact. There was water dripping on top of the window frame.

Vinyl siding is not a water proof exterior finish so that is forsake possible . If your window is not properly installed that moisture could have gotten in around it. Do you have a picture of the window and wall from the outside?

The pictures are attached. Thanks for your help, Shannon!
p.s.: I don't understand why the pictures are upside down.

Hmm the close proximity of the top of window to the over hang of the roof should keep rain from hitting above the window . I do see what looks like a couple spots where water dropped down through the dust on siding. Is the roof maybe leaking in that area?
