installing andersen windows with nailing flange

Post by Navin » Tue Jul 09, 2019 6:08 am

HI I bought andersen windows 100 and 400 series to replace some windows in the basement. They came with nailing flange. Can I install them without using nailing flange? Basement is all stone/concrete so I rather not use nailing flange.

You could likely cut the nail fin completely or partly off and shim the window into place then spray foam the gap. After the spray foam is cured ,cut off the excess and use a good quality exterior caulk to seal the joint outside. This caulk joint should be inspected every year and fixed if it fails
