Need replacement handles for tub faucets

Post by RPD » Fri Jul 14, 2017 6:33 pm

My client wants to replace the handles on her tub faucets, just because they're nasty and ugly (see photo). What are my options? I assume the Delta would replace same for same:

Are there other options?:

Any suggestions welcome.

Those are probably Delta, but don't count on it. Look at the spout and the drain for identifying marks.

Any well stocked hardware supply, i.e., anything but a big box, will have valve stem samples on hand, you can use these to help identify, or at least choose, new handles. For things of this nature I prefer a plumbing supply over hardware store.

Ditto on the plumbing supply for two reasons. First is that will have high-quality parts which will last while the big-box stores just have cheap junk that looks pretty. Second is that the plumbing supply will have an exact-fit replacement, not something which is intended to fit as many faucets as possible with equally poor results on all of them. These handles take a beating in use so you need ones which fit the splines or shafts perfectly. Take the old handles with you when you go shopping to get exactly the type you need.
