Which one does a better job in daily usage and which improves the performance? Can anyone help with an answer?
Neither of these are window styles that people in my area will install as replacements mainly because of our climate. The single hung windows would be more efficient IMO because the top panel does not open and will be sealed completely, where as with the double hung both the top and bottom panels can be opened so they depend on a weather strip seal. To get the same look in my area people will use a fixed over awning style window which will have a better seal then either of the other choices. These windows however will not usually pass code for fire egress from bedrooms in many areas.
