Foundation and soaker hose?

Post by tommytime555 » Mon Mar 12, 2018 2:48 pm

Hi... our foundation is good but the foundation expert suggested we run a soaker hose. He didn’t specify exactly when, or how long, so I was wondering WHEN to start doing this. I have it all hooked up and ready to go but no clue when to use it.

We live in Texas. Right now it’s still pretty cool weather. Should I go ahead and get this started?

Thank you!

T

More details, please.

Assuming that this is fresh concrete, concrete cures by chemical reaction, not moisture content. This chemical reaction creates heat, the warmer it gets the faster it cures and has a tendency to crack. Keeping it damp helps to keep it cool and cure more slowly.

I'm assuming you are trying to settle the back fill around the outside of a new basement ?
