insulating a new shed

Post by h57hunter » Wed Dec 26, 2018 11:31 am

Greetings,

I've profited much by your video's on deck building. I've built a 12x20 deck on the back of our house, and then on the same elevation i built a 16x24 gambrel building, the building is about 2 feet off the ground, half will be storage and the other half will be finished off in a office, the floor joists are 2x10. i have loose bats of fiberglass insulation and also rigid foam board insulation, i was wondering what you all thought of using the fiberglass in the joist cavities and then sealing the joists with the sheets of foam board, thanks.

Fiberglass has been around a long time and is still being used today, so you won't go wrong with that. As for the foam board, my concern would be moisture retention which would cause mold/mildew issues.

If you install the foam it should be just under the floor sheeting not below the batt insulation.
