Moisture Barrier for basement walls

Post by Adolfo Paniagua » Tue Feb 05, 2019 8:53 am

Hi Shannon-

I saw your video on the 3 types of moisture barriers on Utube for basement walls.

I was wondering if can use Tyvek versus Typar? They seem to do the same job correct? I would like to use Tyvek because it’s more cost effective and it’s available at my local HD.

The main question that I wanted to ask is if I use Tyvek or Typar which side of the house wrap faces the concrete wall in my basement when I install?

Thank you!

Either product will work and in reality the direction likely does not matter much but I like the printed side to face the concrete . The materials are designed to have that face towards the weather/moisture so it makes sense to me to face it to the moist concrete.
