Flood zone insulating basement ceiling with foam

Post by LangHouse » Mon May 20, 2019 6:38 pm

We anticipate being flooded in the future and want to insulate the ceiling in the basement with closed foam insulation. Is there a danger of the house being broken when the river rises? We have no problem with putting in trap doors to let the water inside. We just want to know how big we need to make the trap doors.
More info upon request.

This is outside my experience so maybe one of the others will have some insight?

Your local insulation contractor can probably tell you, if not him, try the building department, see what regulations they have for spray foam in a flood zone.
If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

Thanks for your reply. We are going to spray foam the walls and not the floors in the basement. Many folks have offered suggestions and I am grateful!
