Garage Door Torsion Springs

Post by Cjacks15 » Sat Jun 29, 2019 2:40 pm

Hello all,

Can anyone tell me how to determine what size torsion spring should be on my 16’ x10’ insulated garage door? The current spring was a replacement to the original spring, however, this was the wrong spring put on by a repair company (which took my old springs) and so now I have no way of knowing what spring was originally there ,or goes there because all I have is this much smaller broken spring that barely lasted 2 years, while the original had lasted 11years.
PLEASE HELP

Carlos

Your best bet is to contact the door manufacturer and ask them what the spring should be.

Be warned, if you try to replace the spring by yourself, they are deadly if not handled with care.
If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

Yeah I just called a garage door specialist to replace my torsion springs last summer. Not something I would attempt myself.

I agree calling the door manufacture is your best bet
