Step Flashing

How much do step flashing pieces overlap. Not sure how long to cut them for an existing roof. I need to slide them under my old shingles because the flashing was not installed initially and I have leaks!

You should not need to cut them? I believe they are 8" long?

You're right about not having to cut them...I guess I'm making extra work for myself, huh? I didn't know I could get them pre-cut. Thank you.

I finished the step flashing today. Had to pull some of the shingle nails to slide them in but each piece of flashing holds the shingle down below it so I think it's secure . 8 inches was the perfect dimension. Thank you

Each shingle should be renailed as you install the step flashings
